The 630,000 m2 of certified green office space as of 2015 year-end had increased to over 1,500,000 m2 by the end of 2019, more than doubling the amount of green office space. This represents 40% of the total modern office stock. There have also been doubles in the number of certified office buildings or office fit-outs, which increased from 46 to 105, according to the latest green building infographic analysis of Colliers International real estate services and investment management firm.

Within the two popular green building certification systems, 15 new build and 11 existing buildings were awarded with LEED certification, while BREEAM was awarded to 11 new buildings and 45 existing ones, making this the most common form of certification for existing buildings.

Several office buildings with a total area of over 500,000 m2 are currently under construction, and almost all of them is seeking one of the green building certifications, as sustainability is increasingly important to tenants when choosing their office space.
WELL, the latest certification system focusing entirely on the people using a building, is rapidly expanding in Hungary with 13 registered projects, 4 of which have already been precertified.

"While it was less typical in the past, the number of green industrial properties has increased significantly, with 10 new and 11 existing buildings already certified, representing over 300,000 m2 of industrial and logistics space," added Norbert Szircsák, Head of Green Building Advisory Services at Colliers International.
