Lufthansa Technik brings new high-tech jobs to Budapest Airport

become a key player in aircraft maintenance and overhaul at Budapest Airport. Lufthansa Technik will add now an engineering center to its field of activity in Budapest. At the present stage this means creating approx. 50 new high-tech aviation engineering jobs whose range of activities will be connected to the Boeing 737 type of narrow-body aircraft, including aircraft system engineering, trouble shooting, maintenance program management and job cards engineering. In addition Lufthansa Technik AG is going to transfer several non-aircraft type related services to the Budapest engineering center like aircraft engine condition monitoring, aircraft flight data and reliability data compilation and technical documentation services. With services like aircraft transition management Lufthansa Technik is committed to provide additional local support to its customer Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe. Budapest was one of four Central and South-Eastern European airports competing to host the new center offering high-value jobs to aviation engineers. "I see our company decision to create a new aircraft engineering center in Budapest as an acknowledgement of our fifteen years' presence here in Hungary and the strong performance especially in recent years. Lufthansa Technik has become a center of excellence in aviation services at Budapest Airport where major European and overseas airlines will always find reliable partners." remarked Dietmar Focke, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Technik Budapest. "We are proud and happy that Budapest has become the winner of a very tough competition among European airports." said Róbert Ésik, President of Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). He added: "Highly qualified, well-trained and devoted workforce was one of the factors that influenced Lufthansa Technik's decision positively to broaden their aviation services in Budapest. Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport said upon the announcement: "Budapest Airport sees the opening of the new aviation engineering center as yet another major step in widening the business focus at Hungary's main aviation gateway which ranges from passenger flights and cargo services, retail, property and logistics, aircraft maintenance and now to aircraft engineering. Our partnership with Lufthansa Technik is beneficial to the Hungarian economy by creating hightech jobs here at the airport."
