UPDAY: Peter Würtenberger becomes CEO, Jan-Eric Peters Chief Product Officer, Daniel Keller Chief Technology Officer and Thomas Hirsch Chief Financial and Operating Officer / Stefan Aust provisionally takes over WELTN24 main editorial office

Peter Würtenberger, 49, Executive Vice President Corporate Development Axel Springer SE, becomes CEO of UPDAY, the new Axel Springer and Samsung content platform for aggregated news in Europe, with immediate effect.

Jan-Eric Peters, 50, will become Chief Product Officer and Deputy CEO of UPDAY from 1 January 2016. In this role, he will head the editorial office and product management of UPDAY at all locations, and will be responsible in a general capacity for all journalistic content as well as the product development. Publisher Stefan Aust, 69, will assume his duties as provisional editor-in-chief of WELTN24 from January, acting in close cooperation with the deputy editors-in-chief, Ulf Poschardt, 48, and Arne Teetz, 48.

Daniel Keller, 43, is appointed Chief Technology Officer of UPDAY with immediate effect. Keller was Chief Information Officer of Axel Springer SE until May 2015, and since then has focused on the technological development of strategic digital products at Axel Springer. Thomas Hirsch, 33, Chief Financial and Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect, is responsible for the commercial management of UPDAY. In his last position, Hirsch was assistant to the CEO of Axel Springer.

Axel Springer SE, the leading digital publisher in Europe, and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., have announced a new strategic partnership focused on the development of new digital media services for European consumers. As the first product resulting from the new partnership, Axel Springer and Samsung are presenting an early beta version of UPDAY, with the full service to be launched in the coming year.

UPDAY will offer Samsung customers access to a range of news content that combines 'Need to Know' information selected by local market editorial teams in various countries and 'Want to Know' information, an algorithm-based service tailored to customers' individual interests.
